Covered Patio Project: Will It Make You Want One Too?

Creating Covered Outdoor Areas For Clients In Putnam, Westchester, And Dutchess Counties

If you’re tired of not being able to use your outdoor dining area properly then you are in the right place. Our clients Kathy and Jack brought us in to build a covered patio, i.e. a veranda, in their backyard. They’ll have an outdoor dining area they can use during the middle of the day or even when it’s raining. Come see how it turns out (just watch out for tornados).

The 1st Step Is A Phone Call

Kathy smiles as she dials the number at the top of the web page.

She’s about to start another home project and she knows just who to call. Seeing her friend’s covered patio and experiencing it made her want one for their backyard. After convincing her husband they should get one she knows what she needs to do: call a contractor.

But Kathy doesn’t need to search for a new contractor to call. Several projects ago, after being burned by a bad contractor who left her with many problems and headaches, she was referred to a real professional by a friend. They’ve done several of Kathy’s past projects very well and she is always happy with the outcome.

Suddenly a voice replaces the constant ringing with “Thank you for calling Fisher Building Co. this is Ian Fisher, how may I help you?”

Well, well, well, if it isn’t the owner of Fisher Building Co. himself. Kathy glides through the consultation process as she’s done so many times before. She talks about her project, asking and answering questions so the team can have a clear picture of what she wants. Then, after setting up a time for an at-home consultation, all she has to do is wait…

Then Comes The At-Home Consultation

The day of the consultation arrives and the estimator shows up right on time, which at this point is no surprise to Kathy or her husband.

They all go into the backyard and take a look at where she wants her covered patio to be. This is also the beginning of the design stage. Kathy shows them pictures of projects she found online to give them some ideas.

The couple and the estimator start with a budget range so they can build a design off of that. The design, materials, and other parts of the project came after.

Once there is a clear picture of what the client wants the paperwork is drawn up and the couple fills it out. Then Kathy sends in the deposit, Fisher Building Co. puts her on the schedule, and the project begins!

Finally Building A Covered Patio In Putnam County

The 1st day of the build comes around and project manager Ralph Baldassarri shows up right on time.

He and his crew get everything set up and start building Kathy’s covered patio, turning her vision into a reality. The process started out very smoothly too:

Kathy’s project is going completely stress-free, which is how we all knew it was too good to be true. The materials are easily found, the construction process is going smoothly, and the tornado is only a few… A TORNADO?!

Yup, a tornado.

It came through Carmel in Putnam County, damaging homes and leaving many without power (all who went through this are in our thoughts and prayers).

As for Kathy’s project it set us back by about 1 week. But besides that her project is going smooth as silk.

Tornado alert slows the project down

Kathy’s Covered Patio

Finally, it is complete.

Kathy and Jack are hurriedly walking through their house towards the backyard. They can’t wait to see the design they created actually be in their backyard. They walk out back to see this:

Everyone LOVES it, Kathy, Jack, Ian, and the entire Fisher Building Co. crew that helped install it.

The ceiling is tongue and groove wood with a stain and marine-grade poly. It has a ceiling fan and recessed lighting providing an even coverage of light.

Kathy and Jack now spend much of their time enjoying their covered patio, whether it be for relaxing outside or enjoying a wonderful meal with family and friends.
